After losing to the Suns in Pittsfield Thursday, the Sea Unicorns exacted their revenge by blanking them Friday night.
On the mount was Alistair Morin, who has been stellar in two starts for Norwich. He has allowed not a single run in all three stars including the one last night. His ERA remains zero.
In the start, Morin allowed all but two hits and punched out five in route to his first win this season. He was then relieved by newcomer Christo Garrelts who completed three innings punching out two, also surrendering two hits.
Too close the door, southpaw Justin Marks pitched the ninth, striking out two, ending the game with a groundout to Johnny Knox. Your final score, Sea Unicorns six, Suns zero.
On the hitting spectrum, Norwich successfully recorded nine knocks including Ray Leonzi, Brennan Hyde, Jackson Ferrigno and Matt Bucciero having multi-hit games.
Bucciero, who was playing in his first Dodd Stadium game hit a first-pitch rbi triple to right-center field.
Later on in the game, Bucciero would strike again. A two-run rbi triple in the same exact spot. The performance would be enough to secure him the league’s player of the night honors.
Zac Zyons, who played with Norwich in 2022 made his return after a successful season at Bryant University.
Although he did not record a hit, Zyons showed good discipline at the plate reaching via walk twice, coming around to score by that Bucciero triple.
The Sea Unicorns look to build-off this momentum when they face the Starfires later tonight. Branded Country that Rocks performs live at 4:30.
