Sea Unicorns Bounce Back in Worcester
Worcester, MA – Worcester, MA — The Norwich Sea Unicorns returned to the win column Friday night, posting a 6–3 victory over the Worcester Bravehearts at Fitton Field. The win secured a winning road trip to open the 2025 season.
Norwich struck first in the opening frame with two outs against Worcester starter Jaylem Sepulveda. Aidan Stern reached on a leadoff walk and advanced into scoring position on a fielder’s choice. Gabriel Rivera then chopped a single into right field for his first of three hits on the night, giving the Sea Unicorns an early 1–0 lead.
The Sea Unicorns added insurance with runs in the second and fourth innings to stretch the lead to 3–0. CJ Nolan ripped an RBI double in the second to bring home Mike Anquillare, who had reached on an infield single. Norwich’s bats continued to roll in the fifth, adding two more runs to take a commanding 5–0 lead. Jayden Novak opened the inning with a walk and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. Rivera stayed hot, lining an RBI single to center to score Novak. Jack Sweeney followed by smashing a double into the alley in right center field, scoring his Rutgers teammate Rivera from second.
Worcester responded in the bottom of the fifth, cutting the deficit to 5–3 with a two-out rally against reliever Matt Pearch. Jackson Marshall roped a two-run double down the left field line, and Chris Mondesir followed with an RBI single to center to pull the Bravehearts within two.
