Today the Norwich Sea Unicorns have announced the return of the New England Lobster Rolls during the 2024 season! With the celebration of the 30th season of baseball at Dodd Stadium, the Sea Unicorns wanted to bring back the alternate identity used during the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
The Sea Unicorns will play the Vermont Lake Monsters in a “Food Fight” Battle over two days in July. When the Sea Unicorns visit Vermont on Friday, July 26th, the teams will take the field in their alternate identity uniforms, the New England Lobster Rolls against the Vermont Creemees. When the teams travel back to Norwich for the Saturday, July 27th game, the teams will once again play as their alternate identities.
“C.J. Knudsen reached out to me during the offseason and asked if we would be interested in bringing the Lobster Rolls back to play against the Creemees. We had been contemplating how we could bring the Lobster Rolls back as part of the 30th season of Dodd Stadium, and with C.J.’s history here, this was a no-brainer,” said Sea Unicorns General Manager Lee Walter, Jr.
“We can’t wait to ‘creem’ the Lobster Rolls and eat them up,” said Knudsen, the former Connecticut Tigers Front Office Executive, now the Senior Vice President of the Lake Monsters.
“We will show the Creemees they are nothing but soft serve, and enjoy them for dessert at the post game meal,” said Walter in return.
More details regarding merchandise and game day promotions will be released in the coming weeks.
