It has been an interesting start to the 2023 season for the Sea Unicorns. Despite outsourcing their opponents, they entered the weekend with a record of 3-6 near the bottom of the league.

In a flash, the Sea Unicorns were able to rectify those stats and win three straight games to pull even at 6-6 on the young season, and close to the top in the standings.

The most recent victory, a 6-2 win comes against reigning Futures League champions, the Nashua Silver Knights.

The offense came to life early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first. A Ray Leonzi single got the ball rolling and a Johnny Knox knock to right center drew first blood. Andrew Bianco scored Knox with an RBI groundout to make the game 2-0.

The next run came in the third after two singles by Knoc and Leonzi. A towering Bianco double would score the third run.

Sunday starter Clark Gilmore tossed an even five innings for the win, striking out three only confronting trouble head on in the fifth when he allowed two runs.

Norwich would answer back with one in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth inning.

AJ Rooks would relieve Gilmore pitching two innings of no-hit ball, racking up four strikeouts. Jordan Marot would close the door hurling two innings of his own, putting an emphasis on a hard fought third straight win.

Besides Knox, Bianco and Leonzi, Jayson Kramer and catcher Joey DeMucci each had multi-hit games and Logan Meusy scored his third RBI of the year.

The Sea Unicorns look to make it four straight as they travel to Campanelli Field to face the Rox for the first time this year.
