After a sun delay in Pittsfield on Tuesday night, the Sea Unicorns went on to score 11 runs in the third inning and two the very next.
You would think this was enough to get the job done; think again. Pittsfield would rally for seven runs in the bottom of the third and six the very next. In addition, the Suns scored one run to open the game, two in the second and one more in the sixth. Your final score 17-14 Suns.
Norwich pitchers combined for ten walks and 12 earned runs. The best hitters on the night were returning Jackson Ferrigno and Andrew Bianco who had four hits each.
The game took three hours 18 minutes with the Sea Unicorns taking the loss. After arriving back to Norwich at the Devil’s Hour of 3:00 A.M, the Sea Unicorns would play once more in less than 12 hours.
Brandon Cahill would start versus the Worcester Bravehearts, allowing two runs over four innings of work. He also struck out three. AJ Rooks made his Dodd debut hurling three innings of one hit ball.
For five innings, the Sea Unicorns were held with a goose egg in the hit column by Andrew Alameda from Worcester.
Finally scoring one in the bottom of the ninth, Norwich would have runners on second and third. CJ Egrie would be called out looking, ending the game for a final score of 3-1.
Johnny Knox had two hits in the game and was sound on defense. He was awarded the player of the game for Norwich in the game versus Worcester.
The Sea Unicorns look to get back into the win column tomorrow on the first Thirsty Thursday of the year.
