Sea Unicorns Clinch Third Place and Guarantee At Least .500 Win Percentage With Friday Win In Nashua
Nashua, NH – The Sea Unicorns bounce back on a Friday night, beating the Nashua Silver Knights 9-2.
It was an offensive explosion for the Rose City, racking nine runs on 12 hits and five walks. It ended up being a comeback effort, as Nashua had a 2-1 lead into the fourth inning.
Both teams struck in the first inning. In the top half, JP Kuczik knocked an RBI single to center, scoring TJ Baer to make it 1-0 Norwich. Nashua responded in the bottom half, as an error by CJ Nolan scored the tying run.
In the third, the Silver Knights would take their 2-1 lead as Phoenix Williams smashed an RBI single to score Caleb Vacchiano.
However, that lead would be short lived. The Sea Unicorns offense came alive in the fourth, taking full control of the game and never turning back. An error by Josh Turcotte would allow the tying run to score before a Baer RBI single gave Norwich a 3-2 lead.
The game would remain quiet until the eighth inning, with the Norwich bullpen dominating the Nashua offense. Five relievers combined for five scoreless frames, only allowing two hits and four walks to four strikeouts. Meanwhile, Nolan and Baer both hit RBI singles in the eighth to give Norwich a 6-2 lead.
Baer ended up having another big night for the Rose City, going 3-5 with three RBIs. Kuczik, Nolan, and Henry Ayers would all also have crucial offensive performances to a Sea Unicorns’ victory, combining to go 7-12 with five RBIs.
The Sea Unicorns tacked on two more runs in the ninth inning to solidify a win, with Kuczik and Ayers getting RBI base hits to make it 9-2 Norwich. Shaun Flannery entered in the bottom half and closed out the match, allowing one walk en route to a win.
Norwich is now 29-28 on the campaign, guaranteeing themselves at least a .500 finish in 2026. The Sea Unicorns will head to Westfield Saturday night as they take on the Starfires for the final game of the regular season. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. E.T.
