Sea Unicorns bounce back with win in worcester on sunday

Worcester, MA – The Norwich Sea Unicorns are finally back in the win column after an exhilarating 6-4 victory over the Worcester Bravehearts.

The Bravehearts jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first after a sacrifice fly by Will Kraemer. Kraemer continued his hot start, recording another RBI on a double in the third. A groundout from Tate Bannish drove him in, giving Worcester a 3-0 lead at the end of three innings.

While the story of the season has been Norwich jumping out to fast starts followed by a late collapse, the Sea Unicorns reversed the script in Worcester. Down 3-0 entering the fourth, Norwich found an answer against Worcester starter Jake Shaughnessy. Back-to-back walks to Jack Treat and TJ Baer put two runners on with one out. A wild pitch advanced the runners into scoring position, where Reece McCarthy drove in Norwich’s first run on a groundout. Another wild pitch later in the inning brought home a second run. Worcester’s pitching staff proceeded to load up the bases and hit John Bureau with a pitch, tying the game at 3-3.

The game remained quiet until the sixth inning, where the Sea Unicorns swung the momentum in their favor. Two singles helped force a Worcester fielding error, giving Norwich a 4-3 lead. Kenny Noe then broke the game wide open with a two-RBI single to give Norwich their biggest lead of the day at 6-3.

The Norwich bullpen was lights out, as Tyler Fahey and Peter Glidden combined for five shutout innings. Fahey earned the win while striking out two batters.

Jack Scholz shut the door in the ninth, but not before the Bravehearts put up a fight. Two walks put runners on first and second with two outs in the frame. Alan Carpenter drove in a run with an RBI double, cutting the lead to 6-4. However, Scholz responded by striking out Cole Travers to secure the win for Norwich.

Norwich also cleaned up their defense, having zero errors after a disastrous five-error performance on Saturday night. The improved fielding helped prevent runs, ultimately playing a key role in securing the win.

The Sea Unicorns are now 4-6 on the season as the team will head to New Britain tomorrow night looking for a revenge against the Bees, who’ve had their number so far in 2026. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. ET.

Win – Tyler Fahey (1-0)

Loss – Greg Strite (0-1)

Save – Jack Scholz (1)

Time – 3:02
