Sea Unicorns Announce Participants for 2026 All Star Game in Nashua
The 2026 Futures League All Star Game rosters have been announced, and the Rose City will be represented well. Norwich ended up with a total of six players on the two rosters that will face off in Nashua next week. Although there have been many struggles this season, these athletes have taken advantage of the great opportunities that the Futures League and the Sea Unicorns have offered to continue to develop at the collegiate level.
First, we take a look at arguably one of the best hitters in the entire league. That would be infielder Michael Fiatarone. The Bryant Bulldog has been on fire, hitting a league second-best .346 average with 16 RBIs. The speedster currently holds the top spot for stolen bases in the Futures League with a whopping 23 swiped bags. He also has the best on-base percentage in the league, holding a .482 OBP. Despite having no long balls, Fiatarone has been an offensive workhorse, having scored 30 runs this season. His best game of the season came on June 3, racking up a stolen base and scoring two runs while also driving in four RBIs in a beatdown of the Westfield Starfires.
Fan favorite Kenny Noe finds himself heading to Nashua for the All Star Game. The Freeport product has had a fantastic season, currently slashing .322/.445./.456, with his slugging percentage being second-best in the Futures League. In his second season in Norwich, Noe has solidified himself as an everyday starter and one of manager Zach Gitschier’s main options in the lineup. With two home runs and 23 RBIs, the slugger has become the most dangerous power hitter in the Rose City. What’s even more dangerous is his consistency, which will need to continue for Norwich to compete in the playoff race.
TJ Baer is fresh in the minds of many Norwich fans, and for good reason as the Marist outfielder was named a 2026 All Star. His best moment came earlier in the month, where he slapped a walk off RBI single in extra innings to beat the Nashua Silver Knights in front of the home crowd at Dodd Stadium. The Easton native currently holds a .311 batting average with 19 RBIs and 18 stolen bases. He currently finds himself in the top five in the Futures League in hits, batting average, on-base percentage, and stolen bases.
David Pengel has been an underrated piece to the roster, finding a way to make a name for himself as he heads to Nashua. The Avon product is hitting .289 with nine RBIs and 10 stolen bases. However, Pengel currently has a five-game hitting streak going, including a two-hit performance against the Worcester Bravehearts on July 9, where he drove in 3 RBIs. Defensively, Pengel has been a star with a perfect fielding percentage and multiple spectacular catches in the outfield this season.
Although four hitters made the All Star Game out of the Rose City, don’t forget about the pitching. Two arms have been announced to be making the trip to Nashua from Norwich.
First is URI reliever Adam Carpenter. With 12 appearances and 14.1 innings pitched, the Richmond native holds a 3.14 ERA with 14 strikeouts and an undefeated record at 2-0. His best outing came on June 11 against the Lowell Spinners, throwing two hitless innings with two strikeouts. Another impressive outing came on June 25 against the Vermont Lake Monsters, where Carpenter pitched two shutdown innings and allowed no hits.
Jack Scholz will join Carpenter at Holman Stadium. The Narberth product holds a 2.04 ERA over 17.2 innings of work. His four saves currently put him fourth among all pitchers in the Futures League. What’s most impressive are his 22 strikeouts, including a four strikeout performance in two innings against the Worcester Bravehearts on July 10.
Fans can see their Sea Unicorns represented on Tuesday, July 21 on the Futures League Network, with coverage beginning at 4:30 p.m. The home run derby will be underway at 4:30 p.m., with the All-Star Game taking place at 6:03 p.m.
